Exploring the winter woods by dogsled

Live Updates January 2014 to March 2014

When snow blankets the far North, Amy and Dave Freeman will hitch up dog teams and head out to explore the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northern Minnesota. The Boundary Waters is over 1 million acres of road-less wilderness, home to gray wolves, moose, black bear, lynx, otter and a host of other wild creatures.

We will cover a variety of topics including weather, geology and erosion, watersheds, predator-prey relationships, wolves, the night sky, the physics of dogsledding, Ojibwa culture, Expedition ABC’s, and much more. Your class can log in each week to learn about this amazing wilderness and the sled dogs that helps us explore the winter woods.
